Bio

Curtis Holtgrefe is a woodwind specialist and music educator originally from Cincinnati, OH. He is a graduate of New Jersey City University with a master’s degree in Multiple Woodwind Performance and holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).

Curtis has studied jazz and classical performance on instruments including all saxophones, flutes, clarinets and oboe. Performing experiences include Tootsie the Musical (First National Tour), Off-Broadway, Ohio Light Opera, Parallel 45 Theatre, Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, CCM Jazz Lab Band, NJCU Symphony of Winds and Percussion (featured soloist),CCM and NJCU Pit Orchestras, NJCU Symphony Orchestra and professional big bands.

In addition to performing, Curtis is passionate about teaching music. He has taught everything from private lessons and beginning band to jazz combos and marching band. Learning from music educators across the country, Curtis has gained various perspectives that guide his philosophy and teaching techniques.
